Jingqiu joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2022. She is also an affiliate of the Global Change Center (GCC), the Center for Emerging, Zoonotic, and Arthropod-borne Pathogens (CeZAP), the Biological Transport Program (BIOTRANS), the Genetics, Bioinformatics, and Computational Biology Program (GBCB), and the Center for Advanced Innovation in Agriculture. Prior to that, She was a postdoctoral research scientist in Dr. Tal Korem’s lab at Columbia University. She received her Ph.D. in microbiology from Cornell University in 2020, advised by Dr. Martin Wiedmann and was a Ph.D. exchange student at MIT advised by Dr. Otto Cordero. She graduated in 2014 with her M.S. in environmental science from Peking University where she started out her academic journey. Jingqiu enjoys photography, tennis, piano, ukulele, and cooking in her spare time.
