Emily joined the Charles E. Via, Jr. Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech as a Ph.D. student in Fall 2023, co-advised by Dr. Ryan Calder in the Department of Public Health and Dr. Jingqiu Liao. She is an IGC fellow and an REH T32 trainee. Her main areas of interest include environmental health, long range flood mitigation impacts, and policy. Her current research addresses environmental questions pertaining to the transport of soil pathogens through flood waters.
