Leela joined LEAPH in the Spring of 2024. She is an undergraduate studying biochemistry and national security with an interest in studying emerging pathogens, antimicrobial resistance, and development of contact tracing techniques. In LEAPH, she studies the diversity and horizontal gene transfer of antibiotic resistance genes in Salmonella.

In her free time, Leela enjoys reading, creating jewelry, and cooking.
